Dag Hammarskjöld believed that love was best expressed not always in grand gestures, but in action. For him, public service wasn’t a performance – it was a commitment. A promise. Whether he was walking through a refugee camp, drafting a UN report late into the night, or showing quiet dignity during international crises, Dag lived his belief that true leadership was rooted in care.
I thought about this yesterday as I wondered, “The dogs need to visit the vet for routine care, so how am I going to get everything done tomorrow?” 🫤 The reality is: We all have our own arenas, our own little universes in which we are called to show up. For Dag, it was the world stage. For me, sometimes, it’s sitting in the car with two dogs in tow. Both situations matter and both have value.
Life can be loud and chaotic, but care is quiet and powerful.
And it’s seen. More than you know.
